Overview of the Alps:
A region that stretches over 750 miles over Central Europe. The alps are surprisingly not the name for the peaks of the region, but refer to the grazing pastures below the glaciers where the cows roam wild and free on the treacherous terrain. Berchtesgaden National Park : The gorgeous lake Königssee is the main attraction with the best swimming and canoe experiences nestled in the Bavarian Alps in Germany.
Hohe Tauern National Park: Austrian roots with one of Europe’s largest nature reserves, also has Grossglockner which is Austria’s tallest mountain at 12,461 ft..
Limestone Alps National Park: Austrian by nature it holds the largest forested area within Central Europe. In Austria it is named National Park Kalkalpen.
Gran Paradiso National Park: Italian national park in the Graian Alps that offers wild ibex sightings and plenty of other creatures with wonderful scenic views of Gran Paradiso mountain definitely a must see.
Stelvio National Park: This Italian giant is the largest national park with amazing flora and fauna to explore.
Val Grande National Park: Located in Piedmont Italy on the Swiss border in the basin of the Po river. Also has Lake Maggiore, mountain huts to visit, and mountain views of the High Alps
Dolomites National Park: In Northeastern Italy part of the Limestone Alps. It is the most visited park in Italy
Triglav National Park: Picturesque Lake Bled and Lake Bled Castle located in the Slovenian Alps
